The Phone Doesn't Have a Problem With Content

It's rarely the app. The phone has no fixed place, and that's the actual problem ANKOR was built to solve.

Ask most people what’s wrong with their phone use and they’ll blame an app. The app is rarely the real issue.

The real issue is that the phone has no fixed place. It’s on the table, then in the pocket, then in the hand, then on the nightstand. It’s never simply put away, because there’s nowhere for it to be put.

A Place, Not a Rule

ANKOR doesn’t block anything by itself. It’s a solid dock, wall-mounted, that gives the phone one location instead of everywhere.

The device that was supposed to free you started to own you. Apple built the phone. ANKOR builds the relationship to it.

How It Actually Works

  • The magnet holds the phone with just enough resistance to make picking it up a small, real decision.

  • The app is optional, not required for the object to work.

  • An NFC tag starts a session, blocking chosen apps and notifications until the phone comes off the wall again.

  • Nothing tracks a score. Nothing gamifies the process.
